A Perfect Weekend for the Genoese Squad

LIT has new champions: ZENA Esports.

The team from Genoa came into these LAN finals as underdogs, but that only made them hungrier and more ruthless.

Heavy Absences for GMBLERS and Colossal

Everyone was aware of it, both these teams came into the LAN finals with serious issues.

For GMBLERS, the absence of Bambi7 ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ, CREM ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ท and Atatt ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ท meant that 3/5 of the roster was completely renewed compared to the rest of the season.

To replace them, Coach Reizh ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น called in Doxy ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ฐ, Taba ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น and Guubi ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ช, experienced players who had already competed in high-level tournaments throughout their careers.

However, the lack of synergy and training was evident, especially for Guubi ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ช, who had to play a role that wasnโ€™t his own.

For Colossal, the absence of jungler Jeykup ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ท , the backbone of the squad, caused the entire team to collapse on itself.

Ryujin ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น was clearly not ready for a final of this magnitude, and the gap against Metroflox ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท was massive.

Still, you canโ€™t blame a player who was called to play the most important match of the season at the very last minute.

Overall, the whole team (with the exception of Tyrone ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น) looked disconnected, flat, and demoralized.

A Dominant Playoff Run

ZENA conquered the trophy with a roster that initially raised a lot of doubts within the community:

  • Toplane: Archfiend ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ฌ
Known as a โ€œOne Trick Aatrox,โ€ he proved heโ€™s much more than that โ€“ a highly mechanical, fearless, and aggressive player.
He was named MVP of the Semifinal.
  • Jungle: Metroflox ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท
The biggest surprise of the roster, the expectations for him were low after the Spring Split, but the staff put their trust in him, and he delivered.
Metroflox was named MVP of the Grand Final.
  • Midlane: Inzuh ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น
After his stint with Underworld (ex-Colossal) in Winter, he was replaced by Vigil ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น, one split off was enough to prove his old staff wrong.
He showed heโ€™s still one of the best.
  • ADC: Pericolo ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น
A controversial signing, as he didnโ€™t have a strong track record, but through dedication and hard work, he grew into a key piece of the teamโ€™s victory.
  • Support: Wuis ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡น
A consistently strong performer in leagues like LPLOL and Hitpoint, he arrived in Italy and immediately made his mark.

But perhaps the biggest credit goes to the coaching staff.

Almost unchanged throughout the year, they built a project from scratch that took ZENA from last place to first within a single year.

Head Coach: Syklash ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡น
Assistant & Individual Coach: Franzizkuz ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ช
Assistant & Draft Coach: Druk ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น
Team Manager: Kraven ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡น

Colossalโ€™s Split

This final doesnโ€™t erase what Colossal achieved throughout the split.

A careful, dominant team that dictated the pace of games and dragged opponents into defeat.

Their roster:

  • Toplane: Mietek ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ฑ
  • Jungle: Jeykup ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ท / Ryujin ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น
  • Midlane: Vigil ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น
  • ADC: Tyrone ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น
  • Support: Seneca ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ช

All of them displayed top-tier gameplay throughout the split, and we hope they bring that same level to the European stage.

Next Stop: Europe

ZENA, Colossal, GMBLERS, and aNc Legends will represent Italy at the EMEA Masters.

The first two squads are already qualified for the main event and will be seeded into Pool 3.

The other two will begin from the Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) starting on September 23rd.
